Week 4 - Chapter 84/26/2020 Criminal Offences.
Essential Questions: 1) What are the different types of criminal offences? 2) How does the Criminal Code classify crime? 3) What are the most common crimes against property? Under Law Materials, I have posted my powerpoint slides from first semester, as well as optional guided Cornell notes (in two parts.) Please ensure you are taking organized notes on the chapter as your first step each week. It is really critical that you contribute to the online discussions. I will be posting important case studies from the text book. Your understanding of the legal vocabulary will help you use the proper terminology, and it is really good practise for your case study tests: Chapter 6-9 May 11 & Chapter 10-12 June 8. This week, your assignment is to complete: 1) Pro/ Con T Chart *choose one* a) Gun control: Long gun registry requirements are intrusive, discriminatory, and unconstitutional b) Safe Injections sites: Safe injection sites like Insite make for healthy, happy communities 2) Participate in Online Case Study Discussions 3) Complete previously due work (letters/ phone calls to parents will be sent out this week for any students who have incomplete work and are at risk of not completing the course) I will also be posting a poll for debate topics. We will have an online debate (via discussion board) in a couple weeks, make sure you make your choice! This week's discussion topics: Monday 1pm: Chapter 8, part I Friday 9am: Chapter 8, part II
