Week 6- Annotated Bibliography5/19/2020
The purpose of annotated bibliographies is to have the creator summarize the point of the sources and assess the quality of the research. If you find that your sources are unreliable, then you should be looking for other sources. Your sources should cover your key questions and support your ability to answer your essential question. This week's assignments: 1) Confirm your Essential Question 2) Identify your best sources, create an annotated bibliography with at least 3-5 sources. 3) Make sure you are able to answer your essential question with the research you have done. Preview for next week's assignments: We will be reviewing how to organize your information and establish good display practises. You will be creating a draft of your project for peer review. This weeks optional discussions:

Week 1- Brainstorming for Inquiry4/14/2020 So as you now know, we will be working on an inquiry project to complete the year, we will be using the Heritage Project format to support our skill development.. Ms. Lincke has collected all the links on her website, so check here for more specifics and resources: https://mrslincke.weebly.com/heritage-project.html This week, we are going to focus on brainstorming ideas and narrowing the endless possibilities. It can be overwhelming-- how to choose? You are restricted within the parameters of 1750-1919, and some connection to Canada. Start with what you find interesting. Flip though your socials course material, what did you enjoy? What stories were missing from what you learned? Bounce ideas of your peers, your teachers. Chat on TEAMS, or check some outside resources. The Heritage website gives a 9 page list of ideas: http://bcheritagefairs.ca/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Project-Topics-and-Ideas.pdf CBC created an amazing documentary about Canada, here are the relevant episodes:
Your assignment this week is to brainstorm 1-3 possible topics-- and narrow it down to one-- and complete first two columns of the KWHLAQ chart.
Please hand in a copy/photo of your sheet via teams.

Our primary form of communication will be through email & this website; however, teams has a really nice web chat feature that I would like to be able to use if I can get everyone logged in easily.
To use Microsoft Teams, you will need to have access to your school email. Your school email is set up like this: First name initial + last name + last 4 digits of your student number @langleyschools.ca
Your password, unless you have changed it, should be the first two letters of your name + the first four digits of your student number + $$
As mentioned in the email, if you have a computer, I recommend downloading the Office 365 program, and if you are using a phone get the Teams app (or both...) Please respond to this blog, in the comments if you are able to get into Teams (or not.)
