Week 9- Chapter 125/31/2020 Criminal Law and Young People
With the school now open, I will no longer be able to honour our online instruction. I will be running the Socials Hub every afternoon in my classroom. I will still be available by chat/ email. FINAL CHAPTER! Essential Questions: 1) Why was it necessary to reform legislation relating to young offenders? 2) What happens to a young person going through the youth criminal justice system? Under Law Materials, I have posted the handout, as well as optional guided Cornell notes. Please ensure you are taking organized notes on the chapter as your first step each week. Your remote learning is being assessed for your ability to use evidence, and justify ethical judgement. This week, your assignment is to complete: 1) Hand in your answer for the worksheet. 2) Participate in Online Case Study Discussions This is STILL the best way to practise for your final test. 3) Complete previously due work. All work is due no later than June 15th at noon.

Week 8- Chapter 115/24/2020 You should know that report cards were published on Friday. Your mark represents the lowest available mark-- everything you do from here will determine where you land in that range (of if your mark improves!)

Week 6- Summative5/10/2020 Report cards are due May 19th.
This weeks plan: Draw on all of your learning and complete the take home test for Chapter 6-9. There are no set discussions this week. This weeks Assignments 1) Summative: Chapter 6-9 Test If this is not submitted on time-- you will have an "I" on the upcoming report card. 2) Complete previously due work. Any missing work from before Spring Break will result in an "I" on the upcoming report card.

Week 5- Chapter 95/1/2020 Criminal Court System.
Essential Questions: 1) Who is involved in the system and what are their roles? 2) What are the rules of evidence. Under Law Materials, I have posted my powerpoint slides from first semester, as well as optional guided Cornell notes. Please ensure you are taking organized notes on the chapter as your first step each week. Your remote learning is being assessed for your ability to use evidence, and justify ethical judgement. This week, your assignment is to complete: 1) Participate in the online debate. Evidence: can you make compelling arguments (points) for one (or both) side of the argument? Can you back it up with details from the text or other sources? Ethical Judgement: can you use the ideas from both sides to come to a conclusion about how to answer the moral debate? -to be submitted separately 2) Submit a Chicago Style Annotated Bibliography Given this weeks debate topic, put together a relevant bibliography that includes at least 3-5 reliable sources on the topic. Under each entry, include 3-5 sentences summarizing the source, and 3-5 assessing its reliability. 3) Participate in Online Case Study Discussions Next week you will be assigned your test-- you will be required to complete it and submit it by the deadline. 4) Complete previously due work.
