Week 3- Keynes & His writings4/19/2020 This weeks plan:
Explore economist John Maynard Keynes & a chapter of The Economic Consequences of the Peace. Under Economic Resources, I have posted an bibliographic video for you to watch-- it is about 40mins. It discusses Keynes, the Great Depression & 2008 Crisis-- but can also be applied to our current situation. There are also two readings that were sent home before the break: 1) John Maynard Keynes from The History of Economic Thought a Reader. (one double sided page.) 2) Chapter VI: Europe After the Treaty from The Economic Consequences of the Peace Please take notes (or annotate!) with the essential questions below in mind. Essential Questions: (discussions to begin Wednesday) 1) What impacts did The Economic Consequences of Peace have on global politics, and Keynes career? 2) How does Keynes agrees/disagree with Lenin and Marxism? 3) Why was Keynes able to respond so quickly to the Great Depression? 4) Keynes solutions focus on unemployment-- how do these priorities remain relevant today? This weeks optional tutorials: Tuesday 1pm: Keynes, the man & ideas (watch the video & complete the 1st reading if possible) Thursday 1pm: Socratic: Economic Consequences of the Peace This week, your assignment is to complete: 1) Multiparagraph answer (posted in TEAMS) 2) Participate in Online Case Study Discussions 3) Complete previously due work. 4) Check in on HTMW This week in "How the Market works" This week you should: 1) Buy a mutual fund & sell a stock. 2) If you have questions, observations, ideas-- post them in the HTMW channel in Teams.
